Stop dumping Industrial and Human Waste on Blount County Land

The Issue

I am a farmer and resident of Blount County, AL.  My home and farmland, like many others in our county, is being threatened by the spreading of industrial and human waste on our lands, most of which isn’t even coming from our county but outer cities. This practice not only degrades our beautiful landscapes but also poses serious health risks to us all. Our creeks, rivers and surrounding land are being contaminated as this waste seeps into them.

The use of biosolids for fertilizer is a common practice here in Blount County. However, studies have shown that these biosolids can contain harmful contaminants such as Pfas, heavy metals, and pathogens (source: EPA). These contaminants can infiltrate our water sources and soil, posing potential harm to both human health and local ecosystems.

We must protect the health of our community members and preserve the natural beauty that defines Blount County. We urge local authorities to stop allowing the spreading of industrial and human waste on our lands immediately. We also call for an end to using biosolids as fertilizer within county boundaries.

Please join us in safeguarding our homes, families, wildlife habitats, waterways from further contamination by signing this petition today!
