Stop dubious credibility assessments of LGBTQ asylum seekers in Sweden

We believe that a democratic society should stand behind everyone’s right to be and love whoever they want – from wherever they are. Therefore, West Pride demands that the Swedish Government ensures that LGBTQI refugees get a legally just asylum process.

To be granted asylum in Sweden, LGBTQI refugees need to prove to the immigration authorities and judiciaries that they are in fact LGBTQI by passing a credibility assessment that is arbitrary, subjective and based on stereotyping.

We demand a critical review of the process of the Swedish Migration Authorities so that not a single more individual is deported on faulty grounds to a lifetime of persecution, or death.
