Stop Drug Crisis in Tollington & Finsbury Park

Stop Drug Crisis in Tollington & Finsbury Park
The Issue
Open drug dealing, escalating street drug use in the Tollington & Finsbury Park Wards (north of Finsbury Park N4 )has now reached crisis point to the deep concern of residents, community organisations, schools and businesses. The passive policy of the police and Islington Council is quite inadequate to stem the rapid escalation. Drug dealers walk and ride around with impunity and users routinely smoke crack outside M&S, near Christ The King School and in domestic doorways in front of young children. There are daily thefts from shops and doorsteps. There was a murder 2 weeks ago - how many more do we need ? The local MP Mr Corbyn has not responded to letters. The council merely urges more reporting. We KNOW the problem is intense. We need firm and visible ACTION to arrest and remove (not just move on) well known serial offenders. We the undersigned DEMAND a 5 point strategy is enacted by 1 October 2024: 1. A crack down with arrests ;2. intelligent regular use of extra cctv;3. ‘zero tolerance’ signage; 4. regular meaningful reporting to community groups ..5. Targets for arrests snd disruption of supply/premises. This needs to be put in place and driven forward and owned by the Council and Police. The safety of our community is at stake. ACT.
