Stop dragging the UK toward war

The Issue

The people of the United Kingdom never voted for another war. Yet our government continues to echo the hostile and aggressive policies of foreign powers, pushing us toward needless confrontation with Russia and China.

We, the citizens of this country, reject this path. The British people do not want — and will not fight — in wars that serve the interests of others rather than our own peace and security. Our government is inching closer to conflict, engaging in rhetoric and actions that do nothing but elevate tensions. This could have catastrophic consequences not just for our nation, but for global peace.

The United Kingdom has a proud history of diplomacy and working towards peaceful resolutions. However, this legacy is being tarnished by the current trajectory toward military confrontation. Instead of being leaders in promoting peace, we’re being dragged into a confrontation that is not in our national interest.

The statistics are clear. For hundreds of years, wars have drained our resources, leaving behind devastated economies and communities. The modern globalised world offers new pathways to conflict resolution that do not involve sabre-rattling and threats. Diplomatic engagement and sincere dialogue should be the cornerstones of our foreign policy, fostering relationships that build mutual understanding and healing old wounds.

Our government should prioritise diplomatic solutions, using international forums to de-escalate tensions and build alliances based on shared humanity and not unyielding power games. The financial cost of war is staggering, with billions redirected from essential services such as health care and education to fund military operations.

Moreover, the human cost is immense and incalculable. Innocent civilians bear the brunt of military actions, and every day more families become collateral damage in conflicts they never asked for. Now more than ever, we need to learn from history rather than repeat it.

We urge you to stand with us in demanding that our government chooses peace and not provocation. Sign this petition to call on the UK government to step back from aggressive postures and prioritise peacekeeping and diplomatic engagements with governments of Russia and China. We can make a difference by raising our voices unitedly, advocating for a foreign policy that reflects the true values and desires of the British people.
