Piedmont - it’s been awhile but I wanted to give an update on Owens Glen - the fight isn’t over.

Unfortunately, mediation between DR Horton and Greenville County was unsuccessful.

In other words, the big bad developer doesn’t want to negotiate or collaborate with the citizens or Greenville County. They want their money, and they appear willing to push forward regardless of the concerns raised by residents, traffic impacts, infrastructure limitations, and the future of our community.

I’ve heard the lawsuit may be as early as the end of this month. We are working to get more details and will keep everyone updated as we learn more. Once we know what support is needed, we’ll make sure everyone knows how they can help.

As many of you head to the polls today, I hope those of you in District 26 will remember who stood with us when no one else would.

Rick Bradley listened when others wouldn’t. He took meetings, asked questions, and took our concerns seriously. Most importantly, he alone signed the paperwork that set the effort to overturn the 2024 approval into motion. That was a big move that didn’t earn him any political bonuses or favors. He did it because he believed citizens deserved to be heard and unzoned areas protected. 

Rick is the strongest supporter on County Council of UDO improvements and protecting our unzoned rural communities. He is also the strongest advocate for Owens Glen and expects the County to take responsibility and fight for the community- not play into the developers hand. 

You don’t have to agree with Rick on every issue to recognize that when citizens needed someone to stand up and fight, he did.

As you vote today, remember who listened. Remember who showed up. Remember who took action.
