Donald Trump must be banned from entering Canada, due to his felony record if nothing else. The Felon is currently scheduled to take part in the upcoming G7 meeting, June 15-17. 

This is deeply disrespectful to all Canadians who have been resisting Trump's aggressive tariff war, while enduring his mocking of our country and his threats to our sovereignty. Millions of us have united, boycotting American products, canceling travel plans, selling real estate holdings in the US, and honouring "Elbows Up!" 

I have never seen so much patriotic activism by Canadians in my entire life. This should be respected and validated by our elected officials who are supposed to represent us. But allowing the central threat to Canada, President Donald Trump, into our country, does the exact opposite.

Convicted felons are not generally allowed into Canada; this is a long-standing practice in our country. And Donald Trump is a convicted felon. In addition, he openly disrespects our sovereignty, threatens us with his "51st state" rhetoric, and has started an economic trade war that is causing Canadian citizens and businesses immense hardship and financial insecurity.

Allowing entry to this convicted felon who wants to annex Canada, is absurd. If "elbows up" means anything at all, it means that we protect our country, uphold our values, and defend our sovereignty from those who would threaten it. 

NOW is the time to send a message to the Prime Minister that Canadians do not want the convicted felon, Donald Trump, in our country. At all. 

After all, we as Canadians are not safe if we enter the United States. Some of us have literally been shackled and imprisoned, and the Rule of Law is now virtually dead in that country. It is not a safe place to go, and this harms Canadians deeply, as we have many friends, family, and business ties to the United States. For our entire lifetimes, we have been able to travel freely back and forth between our countries; Donald Trump has ruined that for all of us.

The need for "diplomacy" does not override the need to protect Canadian values, and to respect Canadians' overwhelming patriotic activism against the USA in light of Trump's threats and aggression against us. He should not be allowed in our country.  

There is clear precedent for this as well. Canada typically does not allow felons entry, for immigration OR potentially even for visitation purposes. And being President doesn't make a difference; you don't get special treatment. For example, in the early 2000s, President George Bush was not able to enter Canada because of a DUI charge from the 1970s. He had to go through a process of proper application to be given special permission. At the very, very least, Trump should be required to fulfill the criteria that Canada requires of other felons, namely evidence of rehabilitation. (And good luck with that!)

Please sign this, and share it widely.  We will send a message to the Canadian government -- stand by our values, respect the patriotism of our citizens, and do not allow the convicted felon who is President of the United States to enter Canada. Donald Trump is not welcome here.
