Let’s push the UK Government to stand up for Ukraine and send a clear message to Donald Trump and JD Vance that their views and actions are unacceptable to our country.

On 28 February, Donald Trump and JD Vance held a meeting with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in front of cameras in the Oval Office.

The President and VP of the US sought to publicly humiliate Zelenskyy, and made completely unsubstantiated claims about his conduct in office. The footage was a sickening example of the bullying, disinformation-spreading nature of the Trump administration.

It also underlined that the White House has zero regard for the security of its allies in Europe and cannot be reasoned with. Ukraine’s war is all of Europe’s war. Putin has made no secret of his desire to recreate the Soviet empire. Even if he doesn’t act militarily against the UK and other Western European nations, his hybrid war machine stands ready to sabotage our democracy - be that through cutting our vital undersea cables or using hackers to bring down key public services.

With this in mind, we must show Donald Trump and JD Vance that the UK does not accept their treatment of Ukraine and its President. Keir Starmer can send them a clear message that their behaviour is completely unacceptable by scrapping their state visit and banning them from entering the UK until they apologise to Mr Zelenskyy.
