Stop Dominos from Establishing in Haddington, UK

Stop Dominos from Establishing in Haddington, UK
The Issue
I am a resident of Haddington, deeply concerned about the prospect of a Dominos pizza chain opening in our town. Our community is already home to numerous local pizza shops, run by hardworking families who are integral parts of our social fabric. The introduction of this multinational chain threatens their livelihoods and the unique character of our town.
Moreover, it's not just about preserving local businesses. The proposed location for this new outlet is on our main high street - an area already struggling with parking issues. With the influx of delivery vehicles that a Dominos would bring, we anticipate severe congestion and further strain on parking facilities.
According to data from the Local Data Company (LDC), as quoted by BBC News in 2019, there has been an increase in chain closures across UK high streets while independent outlets have seen growth. This trend reflects consumer preference for supporting local businesses over large chains.
We believe that welcoming Dominos into Haddington is unnecessary and detrimental to both our community spirit and infrastructure. Therefore, we urge you to reconsider this decision and protect the interests of Haddington residents and small business owners alike.
Please sign this petition if you share these concerns about maintaining the unique character of Haddington while ensuring its sustainable development.
