NEW Update: The fight is NOT over! On March 7th the Tangipahoa Parish Planning Committee DENIED the request of Dollar General to build on the corner of Hwy 22 W & Dutch Lane and on March 27th, the Parish Council UPHELD the denial by the Planning Committee. NOW, DG is taking our Parish Council, who stood up for us, to court! Therefore, we need to TAKE ACTION once again. Please see below on what you can do: 

(1) ATTEND (& bring family, friends, & other residents with you) to the Tangipahoa Courthouse on Monday, July 31st @ 9:00AM, located: 110 North Bay Street, Amite, LA 70422. Ph:  (985) 748-9445. CLICK HERE for the website.

Best case scenario is we PACK the courtroom to show the judge how important this issue is to us, as well as supporting our legal team & the decision made by our parish leaders.

“I am contacting the court to voice concerns about the Dollar General (DG) store on the corner of Hwy 22 W & Dutch Lane in Ponchatoula. The residents in this area would suffer negative impacts in relation to drainage, crime, traffic, local business, aesthetics, & more. Numerous articles, including from reputable organizations, support the negative impacts of saturating rural areas with DG stores. Please note that currently there are SIX DG stores within a 4-5 mile radius from this current proposed store location. I have signed a petition, along with more than 700 other concerned citizens, and we strongly OPPOSE another DG store along our beautiful Hwy 22.”
