SAVE THE DATE: Monday-July 31, 2023 @ 9AM. Please plan NOW to attend the Amite Courthouse to support our community in denying yet ANOTHER Dollar General store on Hwy 22!

This date is less than 2 weeks away. It is extremely IMPORTANT that the public PACKS THE COURTROOM! Bring as many people with you as possible. At a MINIMUM you can email & call the Judge who is presiding over this issue (even if you plan to attend court that day). Contact info for Judge Brian K. Abels is listed below for your convenience. Feel free to use the script below or voice concerns in your own words:

“I am contacting the court to voice concerns about the Dollar General (DG) store on the corner of Hwy 22 W & Dutch Lane in Ponchatoula. The residents in this area would suffer negative impacts in relation to drainage, crime, traffic, local business, aesthetics, & more. Numerous articles, including from reputable organizations, support the negative impacts of saturating rural areas with DG stores. Please note that currently there are SIX DG stores within a 4-5 mile radius from this current proposed store location. I have signed a petition, along with more than 700 other concerned citizens, and we strongly OPPOSE another DG store along our beautiful Hwy 22.”
