Last night (3/27/23) the Tangipahoa Parish Council did not take any action on the appeal by Dollar General of the Planning Committees decision to deny them; thus, the Planning Committee denial was UPHELD!!! We would like to THANK those on the Planning Committee and all of our Commissioners on the Parish Council for hearing our voices, as well as taking into consideration the needs of our community.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up to either email the Commissioners, as well as anyone who physically came to any of the past 3 meetings regarding the Dollar General. Those who spoke on everyone's behalf were crucial and everyone did a great job!

WHAT'S NEXT? Please go take this Tangi2045 survey as this is the first step in getting zoning to protect residents/homeowners like us. The Parish Council will use these survey results as a guide for their Comprehensive Plan. This Comprehensive Plan "sets forth the vision, goals and actions to direct the present and future physical, social, and economic development that occurs within Tangipahoa Parish".  IMPORTANT things to address within this survey are:

(1) the negative impacts of OVER-development in our rural areas, including commercial development without the protection of zoning

(2) how overdevelopment can impact our schools, traffic, and fire/police protection

(3) flooding that can occur as a result of overdevelopment
