On Thursday, December 10th, 2020, US Senator Thom Tillis from North Carolina released a bipartisan legislation that will put people who upload any content that has copyrighted material attached to it, in jail or prison. "Protecting Lawful Streaming Act of 2020" will punish, up to a felony, any video that has copyrighted music, video clips, and some videogames, as well as many more copyrighted material. This can even include background music in video vlogs, or any other type of video. 

This legislation will ruin many, many people who use the internet. YouTube compilations, reaction videos, music reaction videos, videogame gameplay videos, Twitch streaming, TikTok videos featuring music, FaceBook posts that include music, Instagram stories that include music, are all types of content that will be affected and result in punishment up to a felony. 

This proposal is planned to be passed by the end of this year! Please, if you like the internet and any type of the content listed above, sign this petition. This act will put many people in the American jail system simply for accidentally having music in the background of a video. Copyright is a crime that shouldn't result in a prison or even a jail sentence. These big corporations are not losing anything, and that includes money. 

This is another attempt by the US government to raise up these big music (and/or entertainment) corporations, and give them more power. It is all about money. That's all they want. Creators do not profit off of their work. They all know that. 

Let's make a change and not let this pass. We have too many lawmakers who do not know anything about the internet. LET'S CREATE A VOICE FOR CONTENT CREATORS!
