Stop Devlin Technology Park & Other Data Centers Next to Residential Areas

Stop Devlin Technology Park & Other Data Centers Next to Residential Areas
The Issue
To the Prince William County Board of Supervisors:
The Residents of Prince William County have many concerns about the Devlin Technology Park and other Data Centers being put in residential areas including but not limited to:
- Property values being negatively impacted by being surrounded by data centers
- Noise from Data Centers
- The County does not have the staff, technology, or procedures in place to enforce the proposed proffers regarding noise
- Blasting causing damage to our homes and septic systems
- Power shortages causing spikes, brown-outs and requiring new power lines to be installed. New power lines installed in Prince William County will have to be paid for by residents not the data centers
- Views from our homes negatively impacted by having to look at large 95 feet high buildings
- Impact on local schools and the children who attend them especially children with special needs
- Cell service to our homes being impacted by being surrounded by data centers
- Light from construction and the completed buildings
- Low tax rates on data centers compared to Loudoun and Fairfax Counties
- Not having any ability to review or comment on the revised plan before the Board votes on March 7th.
Therefore we request the Prince William County Board of Supervisors:
- Vote NO on putting any data centers in Devlin Technology Park or any other residential areas
- Pass a comprehensive and enforceable noise ordinance that will protect homeowners from data center noise (especially for neighborhoods already suffering from noisy data centers like Great Oaks and the Regency Apartment complex).
