We, the undersigned residents of Lydiate and Maghull, oppose any  proposals to build any more houses on Parkhaven grounds (Sefton Lane)  and on greenbelt to the west of the Round Meade estate in Maghull West.

We recognise that new homes are needed, but any proposals address the serious risks it creates for our community. It ignores concerns about infrastructure, public services, the environment, and the character of Maghull. We are asking Sefton Council to reject the

The site is one of the key green spaces adjacent to the Green Park Estate. It sits close to homes, well-used walking routes, and areas that support local wildlife. Developing it would increase traffic on roads that already struggle, put more pressure on local services, and further erode our rapidly reducing green spaces.

Residents have repeatedly said they want to protect our green areas and avoid large developments that don’t bring real benefit. This proposal doesn’t meet local needs or improve affordability in any meaningful way. Instead, it risks permanent damage to the environment and to the identity of Maghull.

There are also clear and growing pressures on essential services. Many residents already struggle to register with a GP or dentist, and this is especially worrying for our ageing population. Adding hundreds of new homes would stretch healthcare even further. Local schools are at full capacity and under pressure to accommodate the children who live here now. Roads and public transport are also unable to cope with a large increase in households, which would mean more congestion and greater safety risks for pedestrians and cyclists.

The environmental impact is another major concern. Losing this green space would harm local wildlife and reduce natural habitats. Once the land is gone, it’s gone for good.

Residents do not feel they have been properly consulted or informed about the long-term implications of the development. People want a fair conversation, not decisions made without meaningful community involvement.

We are asking Sefton Council to refuse this proposal being released from the green belt and against it being brought forward for development.
