Four years ago, you supported pensioners like my mum in the struggle to end the cruel frozen pensions policy. However, the UK Government continues to deny over half a million Britons their full UK state pension to this day. 

This month, a group of frozen pensioners are travelling to London to campaign for an end to this injustice. They will be holding a parliamentary event at Westminster on Tuesday 22 November to inform MPs about the policy and its impact on pensioners like my mum.  Incredibly, many MPs are still not aware that this policy exists!

My mum, a WW2 veteran, is now nearly 98 years old and still receives just £72.50 per week because she moved to Canada to live near her family. Over the years she has lost over £22,000 because her pension was frozen the day she left the UK. 

The fact that the UK Government continues to deny pensioners their annual state pension increases in many countries (including most Commonwealth countries) yet pensioners in other countries (like the USA and Turkey) are given their annual increases is illogical, unfair and discriminatory.  

Throughout their working lives these frozen pensioners, many of whom are war veterans, contributed the same as everyone else. It’s time the UK Government pays them the pension they rightly deserve.
