Stop Delta Airlines from Overcharging Nigerians

The Issue

In recent times, flying on Delta Airlines from the USA to Lagos, Nigeria, has become outrageously expensive. As someone who cherishes visiting my family in Nigeria, I am disheartened to see flight prices soar to over $4,000 for a round trip in economy class and reaching staggering highs of $10,000 for Delta One. This is in stark contrast to flights to other long-haul destinations like China, which cost under $2,000, despite the greater distance.

This disproportionate pricing not only reflects a discriminatory practice based on national origin but also creates significant obstacles for average Nigerians who wish to visit home and reunite with their families. Traveling home to see loved ones should not be a privilege reserved for the wealthy; it is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all.

Delta Airlines must recalibrate their pricing structure to ensure that Nigerians are not unfairly burdened with exorbitant costs. This unfair financial barrier is unacceptable and must be addressed promptly. We urge Delta Airlines to review and adjust their fares for the USA-Lagos route to reflect a fairer, more competitive pricing relative to similar long-haul flights.

Clear, competitive policies and fair pricing standards must be established and adhered to. We propose that Delta Airlines initiates an internal review to reassess the factors contributing to these inflated prices and adjust them to match industry standards for international travel pricing, thereby promoting travel equality and inclusion.

Join us in advocating for equitable airfares. Sign this petition to demand Delta Airlines stop overcharging Nigerians, allowing for fair and accessible travel opportunities for all.
