Stop Deledao From Blocking Games and Invading Privacy in Schools
The Issue
Many of us, both students and teachers, have found our ability to access games severely hindered by an AI technology called Deledao. What started as a means to keep our online environment safe has since morphed into a beast of censorship and privacy invasion.
Our elation and joy from playing these games have been abruptly replaced by the harsh sting of restriction and the shadow of surveillance. More disturbingly, Deledao not only blocks games but also engages in an overreach by supposedly monitoring us through our webcams - an extreme and unacceptable breach of our privacy. While we understand and appreciate the effort to keep our online experience safe and beneficial, this has gone one step too far.
According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, game-based learning improves student skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and team-building. Games also provide a break and serve as a motivational learning tool (Pew Research Center, 2018). Therefore, the prohibition of games in our schools is a detriment to the holistic development of students.
Moreover, the unwarranted camera access by Deledao is a violation of students' privacy rights. The UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child stresses the importance of children's right to privacy, with Article 16 specifically stating, "No child shall be subjected to arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy" (UN General Assembly, 1989).
We vehemently request the school administration to review and reconsider the implementation of Deledao, aiming for a solution that does not infringe upon our rights to game access and our privacy. Sign this petition to support the termination of Deledao’s invasive operations in our school.
