STOP DELAYING JUSTICE - Demand Prosecution of Mya’s Rapist

The Issue

My name is Mya, and I am a survivor of sexual assault. I met my perpetrator for the first time when I was a minor and what followed was a nightmare that still haunts me to this day. The unimaginable happened, and I was assaulted and impregnated in the most inhumane way possible. It's been over two years since I reported the crime to the authorities, but justice has not been served.

To make matters worse, the perpetrator has repeatedly sexually assaulted me since the first assault. The El Paso District Attorney's office has failed to take any action to prosecute the perpetrator. Despite having a protective order, I still fear for my safety every day. The justice system has failed me, and the perpetrator continues to walk free.

There have been three separate incidents of sexual assault that my abuser has not been held accountable for. These assaults occurred on December 3, 2020, August 14, 2022, and August 28, 2022. Despite my efforts to seek justice, my abuser remains free to abuse me further, and has not faced any consequences for these heinous acts.

The detective who took my first rape report, not only failed to perform his duty to protect and serve, but he also revictimized me by attempting to shift blame and discredit my story. As a victim of sexual assault, I deserved justice and support from law enforcement - but instead, I was met with hostility and apathy.

His actions were a clear violation of my rights and a blatant disregard for the severity of the crime I reported. It's unacceptable for law enforcement to act in this manner towards victims of sexual assault. It's time to demand accountability and reform in the handling of these cases.

During the process of giving my statement, the officer assigned to my case constantly interrupted me and questioned my credibility. He even claimed to already know the story as he had spoken to my rapist beforehand. This raises significant concerns about the integrity of the investigation and the officer's impartiality.

I felt like I was being blamed and judged instead of supported and protected. It's clear that the officer was more interested in protecting my abuser than in pursuing justice for me as the victim of a heinous crime.

It's outrageous and unjust that El Paso is focusing their efforts on persecuting me instead of prosecuting a rapist.

It's difficult to even begin to describe the depth and complexity of the trauma that I've experienced, but I remain committed to seeking justice and healing. I feel it's important to shed light on the reality of sexual assault and the failures of our justice system to hold perpetrators accountable.

I've been diligently attempting to contact both the sheriff's department and the district attorney's office in order to learn how to submit newly discovered evidence. I have obtained a significant amount of additional evidence to support my case, but unfortunately, I have not received any responses from either.

It's incredibly frustrating and disheartening to feel ignored in my pursuit of justice, but I remain determined to see this through. I'm hopeful that by continuing to reach out and persistently seeking answers, I'll be able to present the full truth and achieve the accountability and resolution that I deserve.

I refuse to be silenced. I am speaking out not just for myself, but for all survivors of sexual assault who have been silenced for far too long. We deserve justice, and it's time for our voices to be heard.

All I want is justice. It's been too long, and I keep being abused by the same man because the system has failed to protect me. I'm praying that the El Paso District Attorney will finally take action and begin the process of holding my abuser accountable for his crimes.

I'm tired of living in fear and feeling like justice will never be served. It's time for El Paso to step up and do what's right. It's time to put survivors first and ensure that no one else has to endure what I've been through.

Please sign and share this petition to demand that the El Paso District Attorney bring the perpetrator to justice and support all survivors of sexual assault. Together, we can make a difference and show the justice system that sexual assault and abuse will not be tolerated. Every signature counts in this fight for justice. Thank you for your support.
