Phase 5 – Southernhay Review
In 2019 road layout and parking changes were made in the Southernhay area to mitigate other changes related to the new bus station development. Now that the development is complete, the changes have been reviewed and it is proposed to reinstate the original arrangements that were in operation prior to 2019 that provide better options for parking and cycling.
The consultation period for these proposals runs from 16th January to 6th February 2025.

Points to make
They are looking to waste tax payers money fixing a problem that doesn't exist - even cyclists we've spoken with do not understand.
Madness to restrict ways to exit the City's commercial heart - The Barnfield Road traffic light control exit is the best exit currently. Further congestion will increase the flight of occupiers from the commercial centre and increase voids. A large number of those who work & run companies in the centre do not cycle to work nor live within walking distance. Proper traffic flow reduces pollution & ups productivity
Will make access for emergency vehicles very hard - Imagine a fire in listed building in Southernhay - Remember the Clarence!
The main cause of congestion and danger to pedestrians was the re routing of access to the Princesshay Car parks through Southernhay.
