STOP DATA CENTERS IN ENID & GARFIELD COUNTY
The Issue
NO DATA CENTERS IN ENID OR GARFIELD COUNTY
A Petition to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the City of Enid, the Enid Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (MAPC), and the Garfield County Board of County Commissioners
We, the undersigned, oppose Project Thunderbird and the construction or development of data centers within the City of Enid and throughout Garfield County.
Our opposition begins at the first step.
We call upon our local officials and applicable public bodies to reject rezoning, annexation, development agreements, public incentives, tax abatements, public financing, utility or infrastructure commitments, permits, and other governmental actions that would enable or facilitate such data-center development.
We also oppose additional utility-scale or industrial-scale solar energy facilities within the City of Enid and throughout Garfield County.
Our concerns include water demand, power generation and transmission, infrastructure requirements, noise, emissions, land use, effects on neighboring properties, public costs, tax incentives, environmental impacts, and the long-term consequences of converting substantial areas of land in our community to intensive industrial use.
Residents, property owners, business owners, and registered voters within the City of Enid and Garfield County are especially encouraged to sign so our local officials can clearly see the position of the people they represent.
BY SIGNING, I AM SAYING:
NO to Project Thunderbird.
NO to data centers in Enid or Garfield County.
NO to rezoning land to enable them.
NO to additional utility-scale or industrial-scale solar energy facilities.
NO to taxpayer subsidies, blank checks, or premature infrastructure commitments.
We ask our elected and appointed officials to reject these proposals beginning with the earliest governmental decisions—not approve the first steps and address the consequences later.
NO MEANS NO.
Protect our land. Protect our water. Protect our community.
