The Issue

I am reaching out to draw attention to a matter that strikes at the heart of our community’s well-being and future.

Our beloved neighborhoods, which we've chosen for their peace, tranquility, and natural beauty, is under threat. The proposed data center development at McLaren’s Crooked Creek Beef Farm poses a massive risk to the fabric of our life here. Our water sources, essential for the health and sustainability of our families and the environment, are at stake due to potential contamination and excessive water usage typical in data center operations. This is a threat not only to us but also to future generations who deserve to enjoy the pristine nature we do today.

Furthermore, the impact of such development extends to our health. Data centers emit microwaves, noise, and increase pollution levels, which are known to have adverse health effects. Our community, filled with children, seniors, and everyone in between, relies on the purity and peace of our environment for a healthy life. We cannot let these factors jeopardize our well-being.

Apart from health concerns, these centers fundamentally alter the landscape and infringe upon the natural habitats of countless species. The development will disrupt this delicate balance, leading to potential declines in biodiversity. Our commitment should be to protect and preserve our environment, not exploit it for commercial interests.

This development does not align with our community's nature-centric lifestyle and needs. There are alternative locations better suited for such technological endeavors, places where the impact on human and natural life would be minimal.

We are calling on local authorities and developers to reconsider the placement of this data center and to engage with our community to find a more suitable location that preserves our neighborhood's natural and peaceful character.

Let us unite to safeguard our home and our future. Please sign this petition to protect our land, our health, and our way of life.

I truly appreciate residents engaging in this process, and your perspective is important. I want you to know that I have been conducting extensive research into the project's potential benefits and drawbacks. This is a very impactful decision for our community, and it deserves careful, thoughtful consideration. The Board of Aldermen is taking the time to understand the thoughts and opinions of as many affected and concerned residents as possible. Your input will be included in our ongoing discussions, and I will continue working to ensure that the Board’s decision reflects the best interests of the City of Pacific and its residents. We also recognize the potential effects on neighboring communities and are taking those impacts into careful consideration as well. Thank you for your engagement! Hi. I share your many concerns on this project. I am reading all emails and have been researching Data centers as well. All I can say is they have a long way to go to convince me this is a good thing. But I will do my due diligence and considerations so either side of the issue will know I looked at all the information. Thank you, Karla Stewart Pacific Alderman Ward 1
