The Issue

For those who are unaware, Darren Wolfson is a Sports Anchor/Reporter for KSTP Minneapolis/St. Paul and a Contributor/Host on SKOR North. "Doogie", as he commonly goes by, is well known for his scoops segment on SKOR North where he gives the inside scoop on local teams such as the Vikings, Timberwolves, Twins, Wild, and Lynx.

However, Wolfson has arguably become most known for his frequent spats with his audience online, particularly on X. In a vaccum, there's nothing inherently wrong with getting into it with strangers on social media. There are a lot of very mean-spirited people online who are unappreciative of the work media members do on a daily basis. I've been a paid sportswriter for over 4 years, so I can relate to these struggles.

With that being said, there was one particular post that has drawn the ire of many. On April 29th, 2025, Darren Wolfson posted the following reply on X: "I am a giver, far too nice to randoms like yourself on this app. One negative to social media: Those who would be and should be voiceless somehow think they have some sort of voice now."

What Darren is essentially saying here is that the loyal, dedicated people who follow him on social media, consume his content, and provide him with the exposure he needs to make a living as a reporter should be voiceless. It comes across as an elitist and condescending remark that suggests his opinion is more important than us commonfolk.

This is not the first time Darren Wolfson has tweeted something like this. If you search the word "voice" on Wolfson's profile, you'll come across hundreds of replies where he uses his platform, provided by KSTP and SKOR North, to put others down, insinuating that their voices are not important and only exist because of social media.

That's not how a professional with media credentials should treat others online. A lot of people on social media are calling for Wolfson to be fired by KSTP and SKOR North. While I understand the sentiment, I don't want this petition to be viewed as me trying to get Wolfson to lose his career over petty social media beef.

However, I do think a written or video public apology is warranted here. I also think KSTP and SKOR North should be made aware of his transgressions over the years and take steps to prevent them from occuring in the future.

By signing this petition, you are sending a message to Darren Wolfson, KSTP, and SKOR North. A defiant message that says, "No, we are NOT voiceless, and the way in which you treat people online matters!" I genuinely hope this petition helps bring about positive change for all parties involved.
