Stop Dangerous Zoning Changes in our Community

The Issue

Why this petition matters

Started by Protect Our Community

On Tuesday, September 17th the Village of Batavia Zoning Committee will vote on a proposed zoning change that would result in new residential development directly next to the Clermont County airport. With this zoning change, our community could see an influx of nearly 800 new homes, with thousands of new residents. We encourage residents to sign this petition urging our local officials to reject this proposed zoning change.

Passage of this zoning change would dramatically increase traffic, noise, and stress on the water and sewage infrastructure. Most importantly, it will have huge impacts on our local school district. Adding additional students with no additional revenue to cover the impact which will result in increased taxes for the residents in Batavia and the surrounding area.

EMS services will be affected as well. Additional residents without additional revenue which will affect the quality of fire and life squad service that you and the community will receive.

This zoning change has been rushed through with no input or discussion with the community. This is unacceptable.

Passage of this zoning change would result in potential long term physical hazards for the local community including environmental concerns, and nuisances for residents of the community. Many federal regulations exist when it comes to residential areas next to airports, which would hinder the ability of the airport to grow and modernize. The Clermont County Airport is a vital asset for our community, providing essential services and contributing significantly to our local economy.

We must take action to protect our community. from this irresponsibly proposed high-density residential development that could jeopardize our community's well-being.
