Stop Dangerous Arkansas Ag Gag Bill HB 1665!
This petition had 6,387 supporters
A new and extremely dangerous ag gag bill passed the Arkansas house on Monday, March 6, 2017, and passed the state senate on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
The bill -- HB 1665, "To Create A Cause Of Action For Unauthorized Access To Another Person's Property" -- would bar recording or collecting data on factory farms, puppy mills, and other animal facilities known for extreme cruelty.
If this unconstitutional bill passes, giant agriculture companies will be able to sue whistleblowers who expose animal cruelty, filthy conditions and environmental pollution, and collect money for any "damages" caused to their company.
Undercover investigations -- just like LCA's investigation exposing notorious B dealer CC Baird, who sold stolen pets for torturous medical research (as documented in the HBO documentary Dealing Dogs) -- would be outlawed under this bill!
This sweeping legislation doesn't stop with animal industries. If HB 1665 passes, it will become illegal for whistleblowers to expose wrongdoing at any business in Arkansas. Child abuse at daycare centers, sexual harassment, and violations of safety codes will all go unreported -- or else.
Sign this petition to urge Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson to veto this insidious bill. Don't let Big Ag take away your First Amendment rights!
