Dear Supporters,
I am very excited to share a major update with all of you.
CVS Caremark announced today that Zepbound will be added back to its commercial formularies as an additional preferred option starting October 1, 2026.
They also announced that Foundayo, Lilly’s oral GLP-1 therapy, will begin being covered starting June 1, 2026.
This is a very meaningful development.
When I started this petition back in May 2025, the goal was to speak up against forced non-medical switching and to advocate for patients and clinicians to have a voice in treatment decisions. More than 18,000 of you signed, shared, commented, and told your stories. Many of you explained how disruptive it would be to lose access to a medication that was working for you, or how difficult it had been to finally find a treatment plan that helped.
Your voices mattered.
My goal was never to pick one medication or manufacturer over another. Wegovy has helped many patients. Zepbound has helped many patients. Oral options like Foundayo may help expand access even further.
The real goal has always been this: coverage of all evidence-based obesity medications so patients and providers can choose the treatment that is most appropriate for the individual.
Obesity is a chronic disease. Treatment is not one-size-fits-all. Patients respond differently to different medications. Tolerability varies. Comorbidities matter. Continuity of care matters.
There are still important caveats. This announcement does not mean every patient will automatically have coverage. Employers and plan sponsors can still make their own coverage decisions, and patients may still face prior authorizations, copays, deductibles, or plan exclusions. But this is still a very important step in the right direction.
There is also separate Medicare news worth noting. CMS has announced the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, a demonstration program beginning July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2027. Eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries may be able to access certain GLP-1 medications for weight management, including Foundayo, Wegovy, and the Zepbound KwikPen, for $50 per month.
To everyone who signed this petition, shared it, commented, contacted your employer, spoke with your clinician, appealed a denial, or simply refused to stay quiet, thank you.
This is a reminder that patient voices matter.
