Stop CVRD’s OCP from subdividing Saltair

Stop CVRD’s OCP from subdividing Saltair
The Issue
I do not approve of the removal of rural 2 acre lots ( 1 H.) from Area G - Saltair’s Official Community Plan and request that it be reinstated to preserve our community's specific rural character.
What’s Being Proposed?
The CVRD is proposing to allow subdivision of Saltair’s larger rural R2
properties (currently restricted to 2 acres minimum) into one acre country
suburban lots.
Why This Matters
These proposed changes could have significant and lasting impacts on
Saltair, including:
- The loss of rural character as Saltair becomes a suburban area.
- The removal of forested areas to make way for new subdivisions
- Provincial legislation now allows for carriage houses and suites in
Saltair, the downsizing of large acreages will further densify the
community.
- A decline in biodiversity and loss of local wildlife
- Increased demand on infrastructure such as water supply, electricity,
sewage and drainage
- A potential increase in property taxes
What Can You Do?
This proposal is expected to be finalized in Fall 2025.
If you do not support these changes, we encourage you to add your name to this petition opposing the removal of our 2 acre minimum for lot sizes in rural areas and asking for it to be re-instated.
