Why this petition matters :
"Today the destruction of forests & trees have increased along with population growth.
People do not know that the trees are our life-givers as well as life savers during floods & avalanches. With trees and forests, we meet many of our daily/regular needs.
At the same time, forests cause rains.
Due to population explosion & infrastructural advancements, humans are indiscriminately wasting water for their needs.
That is why the existence of forests today is in danger. Consequently, human life is also in danger.
According to an Estimate, substantial millions hectares of forest are harvested in the world per year.
In India alone, one -two million hectare of forest is being cut down. The pressure of urbanization, the growing population and the craving for the rapid development have deprived us of Green Cover.
We want to solve the non-stop Destruction of the forest which is the habitat of animals/birds in order them & us to stay alive and from being endangered. Just imagine, Today wild animals have begun venturing into human colonies, that's because we have begun encroaching theirs.
Effects of Deforestation/Cutting of Trees
Floods and Droughts: Soil erosion increases the soil flows, due to which the specific cycle of flood and drought is started.
Air Pollution:There are grave consequences for forest destruction. Its biggest disadvantage is in the type of air pollution. The air where there is lack of trees gets polluted. And the problem of air pollution is the rising in our city.
Extinction of species:Due to the destruction of forests, wildlife is disappearing.
Global Warming: Deforestation has a direct impact on the natural climate change, thereby increasing the global temperature. With the decreasing area of forests, the rain is also becoming irregular. This contributes to ‘global warming’, which has direct impact on humans.
Nonetheless, a more workable solution is use of proper forest management strategies to ensure the nature is undisturbed.
The next possible solution would be smart water management. Improper water management will cause two things. One would be that any given area will have too much water, damaging the habitat. The other is the exact opposite; an area will not have enough water to support the living beings in that habitat.
"Cutting Trees, is like KILLING LIVES"
We the Residents of Dehradun, Uttrakhand disapproves the decision of the state to ostensibly meet water shortage by felling over 2000 trees from Khalanga Reserve forest and constructing a Reservoir to channel water to deficit areas in Dehradun.
Our Forest is put on Stake, with this Petition we Request the Government/ Authorities to Abort this Plan and look for an alternative.
