Stop cuts to ScotRail Ticket Offices

Stop cuts to ScotRail Ticket Offices
The Issue
ScotRail have confirmed that they plan to proceed with plans to reduce ticket office opening hours at most of their stations as they claim less people are now using ticket offices to buy their tickets and instead staff should be seen doing Customer Service duties instead outside of the ticket office and out on the platform
In 2021, the train operator published an assessment – the first of its kind since 1991 - which showed a dramatic increase in the number of tickets bought on the ScotRail website, app, or at ticket machines, with a significant decrease in customers buying at ticket offices. In the past 10 years alone, there has been a 50 per cent drop in ticket office sales but given the fact this assessment was done during Covid when hardly anyone was travelling shows this proposal was done at the wrong time and doesn't reflect today's demand, The reality is Ticket Offices are busy and people still rely on them.
ScotRail claim “These changes will provide a service that is better suited for today and the ticket-buying habits of our customers, as well as create an environment that improves safety and customer support" but what there really saying is, Ticket Offices are costing them to operate and would prefer staff we're outside rather than in an office where all passengers know they are guaranteed to get someone for a ticket, Customer Service, Assist with enquires, Assist disabled passengers, Vunrable people and many more things. This also contradicts the Scottish Government's plan for a fully staffed railway as Fiona Hyslop had committed to keeping all stations staffed and all trains staffed but this seems to be going back on that, And have Transport Scotland who are the acutechts of these proposles not seen what happened in England when the Department for Transport tried to close all ticket offices in England? It failed and the plans we're scrapped so you think they would've learned that people prefer ticket offices over TVMs or MTickets. However these figures which ScotRail are showing we're done during Covid when hardly anyone wants travelling and they are now seeing this as an opportunity to try and cut back on staffing to our stations when we need them open to serve passengers, The reality is ScotRail should see what happened in England and urge Transport Scotland to scrap these unworkable and unnecessary proposals as they might say[It benefits passengers] but what it really is, Is cuts to ticket offices which is unacceptable. Keep our stations and ticket offices staffed and stop these unworkable proposles
