A developer plans to bulldoze the woods in between Spruce Creek Fly-In and A Quiet Place in the Country neighborhoods to build a new neighborhood of 64 single-family homes along Spruce Creek. The proposed homes would sit on lots no bigger than 1/3-acre and will be built on land that is an important point for water drainage for our community and surrounding areas. Clearing this land wipes out the habitat for dozens of species of plants and animals, some of which are protected.  The replacement of natural soil with homes, concrete, and asphalt will certainly have a negative impact on our already significant flooding issues. The addition of 64 homes and 120+ vehicles in our community will create traffic/safety concerns and will steal the peacefulness this community has enjoyed since its inception.

Spruce Creek is on the list of Outstanding Florida Waters by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. An Outstanding Florida Water (OFW) is a body of water designated worthy of special protection because of its natural attributes.
