Airbus' Cabin Air Explanations during the Corona Pandemic –
Presented, Analysed and Criticised by Prof. Dr. Dieter Scholz, MSME
Aircraft Design and Systems Group (AERO) Department Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering Hamburg University of Applied Sciences Hamburg Berliner Tor 9, 20099 Hamburg, Germany.

‘The impression is given; the outside air would be drawn from the top of the wing. Fact is the air is tapped off from the compressor of the engine with known problems of possible cabin air contamination due to engine oil (http://CabinAir.ProfScholz.de

Many thanks to Professor Scholz for his expert opinion and input on the matter.

So, that’s the latest delivery of misinformation from the aviation industry in order to coax the public back on aircraft. It’s nothing new, they have done the same for decades claiming that the bleed-air from the aircraft engines is "fresh-air" and as good as in any hospital operating room, which is not true. We are not surprised that they are misleading everyone on the current problem too.

If you are considering travelling onboard an aircraft please use a certified (CE) mask that will provide suitable protection.

The following standards are approximately the same:

    N95 (United States NIOSH-42CFR84)
    FFP2 (Europe EN 149-2001)
    KN95 (China GB2626-2006)
    P2 (Australia/New Zealand AS/NZA 1716:2012)
    Korea 1st class (Korea CMOEL - 2017-64)
DS (Japan JMHLW Notification 214, 2018)

(Source: Technical Bulletin 3M /status 01/2020, Rev. 2)

Note: we recommend the higher grade FFP3/N99 with a valve for easier breathing.
