Flights can still be booked direct on airline websites, with no questions asked despite everyone being told to stay at home to stop the spread of this virus and Europe’s safety regulator EASA is advising commercial aircraft operators to adopt new procedures to switch off air-conditioning system recirculation fans regularly, as part of measures to limit the risk of coronavirus contagion.

British Airways have furloughed the majority of their cabin crew. Those who have not been furloughed are speaking out:

Why are regular scheduled commercial flights still operating when most of the world is on lock down? There have been various news reports with explanations, a couple of them are below:

Flights can still be booked direct on airline websites, with no questions asked despite everyone being told to stay at home to stop the spread of this virus. Here are two examples - from the BA website and the Air France website for flights today 08 April 2020:
London Heathrow to Dallas Fort Worth
Flight Number: BA1530/AA 81
12:15LHR Terminal 3 - 16:35DFW Terminal D
Operated by: American Airlines
The online booking system stated (yesterday) that for the outbound flight, there was only one seat available in First Class.
Many American Airlines crew have already been diagnosed with Coronavirus:

PARIS- NEW YORK
Operated by Air France, AF0006
Aircraft Boeing 777-300
Cabin LA PREMIÈRE
2020 April 08 Wednesday, 14:20-16:55
Total flight duration: 8h35
14:20
Paris, Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG)
16:55
New York, John F. Kennedy International (JFK)

The Air France System stated there were only 2 seats available in First (La Premiere Class) at the time of writing this.

If, as the airline booking systems state that only limited seats are available in First Class, who are all of these First Class passengers and WHY are they flying when most of Europe and the World are on lockdown?
The AF 0006 Paris to New York is scheduled to depart on time at 14.20 this afternoon. The BA1530/AA 81 departure is ‘estimated’ on the Heathrow Departure Information at the time of writing this.
France is in a serious full lockdown situation and has been for the past 2 weeks yet Air France crew are expected to work in an enclosed environment possibly with passengers who could be carrying the virus.

It’s a similar situation in the U.K.

03 April - Business Insider (U.S.A.):
‘Industry experts explained to Business Insider that the requirement is designed to keep supply chains stable and transport essential personnel, like government and healthcare workers, as well as to maintain connectivity to smaller areas.’

Furthermore, neither Paris or Heathrow airports have testing facilities for Covid-19 for arriving passengers. Please check for yourselves the number of flights still arriving at these two airports.

The BA016 service arrived from Sydney & Singapore this morning 08 April with 212 passengers onboard. This service will operate for the next few days before being cancelled.
Let’s hope that repatriation is now complete, that everyone is where they need to be and the number of aircraft in the air reduces drastically.
Why should Cabin Crew continue to be put at risk?
WHY is the Aviation Industry exempt during this crisis and permitted to continue the spread of Coronavirus Covid-19?

The very same air conditioning system which airlines and aircraft manufacturers have been declaring ‘safe’ because the air is HEPA filtered and as fresh as "on the Earth" and as clean, even "sterile", comparable to a hospital operating room?!!!
