The Issue

A new sports bar is scheduled to be built on Lot 81 St James Court on McColl and Canton in Edinburg. The location for this new sports bar is directly across the street from my home and the entrance to our Lake James Subdivision and in front of James Court Subdivision. This personal connection highlights my deep concern for the safety and well-being of my community. An elementary school is located just a short distance away, amplifying our worries as parents and residents.

Traffic is a significant issue here, with vehicles speeding at 55 mph on McColl and heavy congestion on Canton.. Introducing a sports bar will only exacerbate these conditions, creating a potential for traffic accidents—a reality no one is prepared to face. Also DUI drivers will use Lake James as an alternative route to 2nd Street to escape police detection.  Our yard is used as a dumping ground for beer cans and other litter,

The safety of our children and the peace of our neighborhoods are at risk. The late-night activities typically associated with such establishments could lead to undesirable incidents, affecting not only our property values but also the quality of our daily lives. This development poses a danger to our community's tranquility and security.

We urge local authorities and decision-makers to re-evaluate the approval of this project, taking into account the increased traffic risks and proximity to schools, which are not suitable for a location encouraging late-night activities. Consider alternative locations that would not infringe on residential and educational areas, and prioritize the safety and well-being of our community members.

Join us in protecting our neighborhood and ensuring a safe environment for our children and families. Please sign this petition to stop the construction of the sports bar and advocate for a safer community for all.
