Tax Credits Incentive: Additionally, I propose that individuals who purchase and install water recirculation pumps should be eligible for tax credits, similar to the incentives provided for purchasing electric vehicles or installing solar panels. This would not only encourage more households to adopt this eco-friendly solution but also contribute to significant water conservation efforts nationwide. Water conservation is energy conservation. Every gallon of clean drinking water is equivalent to about 2.7kW-hrs, or $.30 of electricity. If every home could save 11,000 gallons that’s almost a 30,000kW-hrs reduction on the electrical grid per home. Source reduction also reduces the amount of CO2 emissions (Greenhouse Gas) created for the collection, treatment, distribution, re-collection, and wastewater treatment.
