The Issue

The healthy development of our children is deeply influenced by their environment. These children centres are invaluable, nurturing spaces that provide crucial support and resources for our children's growth and learning. Sadly, these vital centres are facing closure due to impending budget cuts.

This decision will have a profound impact on countless families, restricting their access to essential services like early childhood education, health services, and crucial parental support. For many, children's centre and in Leeds are a lifeline, a place where they find connection, guidance, and a supportive community.

With 56 children's centres currently operating in Leeds, the closure of even one, like our own, means a significant number of children will miss out on the positive impact these centres have on school readiness, reducing childhood obesity, and fostering safer communities. We know that early intervention makes a lasting difference.

The alternative to these centres is stark: children, single mothers, parents, and children with special needs will face increased isolation within their communities. This isolation will inevitably place further strain on already overburdened mental health services, leading to increased anxiety, depression, and a sense of hopelessness. These centres are not just buildings; they are vital hubs of connection and support, preventing families from falling through the cracks.

As a community that deeply values its future generation, we implore the relevant authorities to reconsider this devastating action. Your signature can make a real difference.

🚨WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!
REVIEW OF ALL LEEDS CHILDREN'S CENTRES🚨

📌As part of the council’s wider effort to identify potential savings, a review of the Children’s Centres is underway. While this work will explore potential savings, it is also about ensuring that services remain sustainable and continue to support to families with a reduced budget.

📌We would be beyond grateful if you would complete the survey, either online or a paper version at the Centre. We are so proud of our Centre and want to continue to do our best for children and families of Farsley/Calverley.

📌 If you would like any help to complete the survey, the Children’s Centre staff will be very happy to support you.
