Dear All,

               Congratulations for crossing 2500 number of signers and we are strong 2670 at present . Each day lots of people and organizations are joining Petition and Association To Save the East San Jose Health System ( ASESJHS). We welcome Majority of Medicine Executive Committee at RMC, 43 prominent physicians including 5 former chief of staff RMC , 5 Non for Profit Organizations, prominent citizens and volunteers . Heartiest welcome to new organizations who have joined since  launch on 05-24-24 Valley Physicians Group, the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley, SEIU-UHW. A public education video https://youtu.be/mP5UguGGDZo  was uploaded 2 days ago explaining in details implications of closure of these specialty  programs and what would be consequences on 08-12-24 when these programs are shut down. We would like to highlight few points

1.East side of Santa Clara has only Regional Medical Center (RMC) serving 1/3 rd population with bed capacity of 264. Rest 8 hospitals in county have approximately 3000 beds. If we apply equal distribution , East san jose should have 1500 beds . So we have approx 17 % of beds than what we should have in the first place. So we are extremely underserved.

2.Trauma, Comprehensive Stroke and Code Heart Programs are community health assets and very important since they are time sensitive life saving programs where each minute counts and can be life and death situation . If we lose them, we will never get them back. HCA took away Pediatrics about 10 years ago, Obstetrics and Gynecology about 4 years ago. Public has to travel greater distances to get emergency services in Pediatrics /Ob/Gynae/Nephrology/Gastroenterology Services and if we don't do anything now, same fate would be to Trauma, Comprehensive Stroke and Code Heart Programs . lets work together to preserve what we have

3. Community participation is the key. We need to get together and have discussions about health assets in community and how to preserve and enhance them. ASESJHS will be working this weekend to spread this petition and message to the public. We humbly request each member of public to take 1 hour of busy schedule over this weekend and call your family and friends , sign petition and become a part of this movement . This will be your community service. We will urge everyone to consider putting this flyer in  their work places, stores, restaurants  temples, churches, bulletin boards, schools and possibilities are endless . Our Volunteers from organization would be in neighborhoods educating the public this weekend. All local organizations involved in promoting health care can do at their local level . TOGETHER WE WIN. 

4. We are not asking for any monetary contributions. Somehow change.org asks for donations which go to them and not to us. We are all volunteers , have no overheads and this whole operation is community driven .
