The Issue

The Port Ramp Marina holds a special place in the hearts of Ogden’s boating community. For years, we have enjoyed its facilities, from the serene waters to its comprehensive dry storage and launch services. Every season, we eagerly pay the fees for dry storage, season use passes, anchor passes, and adhere to the necessary DNR courses and passes. These contributions are made with the understanding that our beloved marina will remain accessible and functional. However, the proposed construction plan threatens to disrupt our cherished routine.

Plans have emerged indicating that the Forest Services intend to shut down Port Ramp Marina for the 2026 season to facilitate construction. This decision, while aimed at making beneficial upgrades, seems premature and poorly planned. The construction does not necessitate closing the ramp, its parking, or dry storage for an entire season. Instead of commencing with the work that directly affects boaters, work should begin on less disruptive segments, such as those near the highway.

Closing Port Ramp in 2026 will lead to unnecessary inconveniences and hardships. Boaters will be forced to find alternative storage solutions, resort to other lakes, and endure needless hassle and frustration. The ripple effects could spell loss for Pineview Lake’s users and strain neighboring recreational areas.

We urge the Forest Services to reconsider their plans. A phased construction process can achieve the necessary upgrades without depriving us of access to our marina. Other projects have successfully adopted this approach, enhancing facilities while maintaining service continuity.

Help us ensure that Port Ramp Marina remains open in 2026. Boating isn't just a hobby for us; it is a way of life. Sign this petition to voice your support for keeping the marina open during construction. Together, we can find solutions that respect the needs of both the community and development projects.
