Stop Classifying Certain Bulldogs as XL Bullies and Scrap the Entire Ban

The Issue

I am a proud owner of an American bulldog, who has been a part of our family for the past 5 years. He has never shown any signs of aggression or harm towards anyone, including my four children. Despite this, due to recent regulations, he is now being forced to wear a muzzle and is classified as a dangerous dog. This law not only discriminates against certain breeds but also fails to consider individual dog behavior.

The current legislation classifies certain types of bulldogs as 'XL bullies', which automatically labels them as potentially dangerous dogs. This classification does not take into account the individual temperament or behavior of these dogs but instead generalizes based on breed alone.

It's important to note that according to studies from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), breed-specific laws are not effective in preventing dog bites and attacks. Instead, they cause undue stress and hardship for responsible pet owners like myself whose pets have never shown any signs of aggression.

We should be focusing on promoting responsible pet ownership rather than discriminating against specific breeds. It's time we stop labeling innocent dogs like mine as 'dangerous' based purely on their breed and size.

Let us stand together against this unjust law! Sign this petition today to stop classifying certain bulldogs as XL bullies and scrap the entire ban altogether!
