The Issue  at hand: The decision was finalized on May 13, 2026 without us, the tenants, knowing that the policy changes were even being discussed. If we had known, many of us would have reached out, gotten involved, and shared our opinions. But instead, we all found out by receiving packets left on our doorstep on June 5. Within these packets are the details of a new pet policy and many other policy changes. But the gist is this: moving forward the Golden Eagle will be a no-pet rental housing complex. Those already living here with dogs only (not cats) may be “grandfathered in” and allowed to keep their pets but only until their current lease expires. Once their lease expires and needs renewal, they will then lose their grandfather status and at that point  must either remove their dog or relocate. At the Golden Eagle, our lease lengths are variable so many of us currently only have one or two months remaining until our leases expire. For this “privilege” they want a refundable pet deposit of $400 and a $35 monthly pet fee. This temporary“grandfather status”that’s defined here is nothing more than another way to say “you have until your current lease expires to remove your pet or get out”.
