Stop Chinjuya Restaurant From Serving Endangered Animals
The Issue
My name is not important but my story is. I have had a lifelong affection for axolotls, a kind of amphibian that is now critically endangered. Yet shockingly, I've discovered that the Chinjuya restaurant is serving these and other protected animals as parts of their exotic menu. Axolotls, once the pride of Mexican water bodies, are now nearing extinction, with a population decline of over 90% in the past few years (Source: International Union for Conservation of Nature). Restaurants like Chinjuya are not just serving food, they are serving parts of our biodiversity on a plate, contributing to the destruction of our wildlife.
The trade and consumption of endangered animals are not just harmful but also illegal under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). It's a matter of urgency that we make a collective appeal to the local authorities to investigate Chinjuya and enforce strict measures. We implore Chinjuya to alter their menu and cease contributing to the endangerment of species. Harmful practices like this need to be brought to an end, out of respect for our environment and the myriad species that call it home.
Let's take action – for the axolotls, for endangered species everywhere, and for the future of our planet. Please, join me in signing this petition to stop Chinjuya restaurant from serving endangered animals.
