Stop Political Bullying: Let Taiwan Be Taiwan

The Chinese government has been pressuring international airlines—including American, European, and Asian carriers—to list Taiwan as “Taiwan, China” on their websites and booking systems. This is not just a minor change in wording—it’s a deliberate act of political erasure.

Taiwan is a vibrant democracy, home to 23 million people who freely elect their leaders, uphold human rights, and maintain a distinct identity. Forcing global companies to adopt politically motivated language undermines truth, corporate independence, and the right of self-identification.

This is part of a larger campaign by Beijing to isolate Taiwan and impose its political will on the world, even in areas as neutral as geographic labeling. If we allow this pressure to continue unchecked, we’re giving authoritarian regimes the power to rewrite facts and intimidate the global community.

We call on the U.S. government, international bodies, and global airlines to:

Restore “Taiwan” as the correct, neutral name on websites and systems.
Support the freedom of companies to use internationally recognized and factually accurate terms.
