Stop children vaping - it takes a village to raise our children

The Issue

As a parent of a teenager I have become aware of the insidious way vaping companies and sellers are targeting children. It's easy to see why. If our children are hooked at a very young age then they become life long customers. It costs £3.99 for a vape that is the equivalent of 20  cigarettes. A pack of 20 cigarettes costs around £12. It cost less to buy a vape than a McDonald's meal. So who are these companies and sellers targetting? Our children. Our children are becoming instant heavy smokers. This epidemic is made easier by the fact that there is no legislation around advertising vaping as there is with smoking. Moreover shops do not have to have the vapes concealed behind a closed cabinet like they do with cigarettes and so the vapes are displayed like "pick and mix" sweets.

This petition is for vapes to be treated just like cigarettes, kept behind a concealed cabinet, not openly displayed.

In Sainsbury's in South woodford for example, Vapes are on sale on the shelves near the checkout. Unrestricted and accessible.

Treat vapes like cigarettes. Vapes should be kept behind a cabinet where they cannot be seen, just like cigarettes. The adult customer will therefore have to know beforehand what they want to purchase. This reduces the exposure to children in shops and also forces the sales person to really assess whether they are selling to a child.

We need to ensure Vapes are treated in the same way cigarettes are for the health of our children.
