Andrew Mettal allegedly kidnapped and raped a College of Charleston student earlier this year. The evidence against Mettal is strong. He has a rap sheet. It took a five hour stand off to arrest him. Mettal should stay in jail while he awaits trial, but he may end up on bond and reside in the Upstate while he awaits trial.​

Based on my research of hit and runs (which I admit is limited), Charleston County is pretty liberal with bond when compared with the Upstate and is slow to act when alleged criminals violate it. The judge will either let Mettal stay with his girlfriend or send him to an Upstate halfway house to await trial if they grant him bond.

I believe Charleston may send Mettal to the Upstate to avoid backlash for allowing a probable rapist back on their streets as College of Charleston starts its fall semester. Please help me prevent this from happening.
