Living in Pembroke Dock, the streets I drive on daily—Bush Street, High Street, Prospect Place, and Trinity Road—are already narrow and congested. These roads are vital arteries for local residents and businesses, some of whom depend on the already limited parking available. However, the proposed active travel improvement plans threaten to bring unnecessary changes, adding to the challenges we face every day.

The plans to introduce cycle paths, narrow roads further, and remove essential parking spaces will negatively impact our community. While encouraging cycling and walking is a noble goal, these plans do not align with our town's reality. Our roads are not easily expanded, and the removal of parking spots could drive away patrons from local businesses, risking their livelihood. I also worry about the affect it will have for the emergency services as i feel they will struggle to pass on narrower roads.

Local families already feel the pinch of navigation and parking difficulties in our daily lives. I worry about the safety concerns of narrowed roads and increased traffic congestion that these changes might bring. The need for widened footpaths and additional crossings in areas where they aren't required is baffling and seems disconnected from what our town really needs, providing cycle paths does not mean there will be less traffic as most people will not start to cycle because a path is there and this will cause a demise of our town as seen in many others due to traffic calming.

We need development plans that truly benefit all residents of Pembroke Dock, enhancing our quality of life without adding burdens. Instead of blanket changes, we should focus on targeted interventions that consider the unique needs of each area. Such actions might include maintaining adequate parking for businesses and ensuring road safety without unnecessarily narrowing them.
