Living near Fairfield oval and the Yarra Bend Park and using the parks and trails everyday,  I've watched its trails and the serenity of the Yarra River become an integral part of our community's daily life. The announcement of the Cedar Woods development project, which plans to introduce 300 apartments at the corner of oval, has many of us deeply concerned. The very thought of such an influx of new residents raises fears about overcrowding, especially on our beloved walking routes, and the disruption of the natural beauty surrounding the river. 

Beyond the environmental impact, I shudder at the inevitable traffic congestion that could transform our peaceful roads into busy thoroughfares. Fairfield's charm lies in its balance with nature, and this development threatens to tip that balance irrevocably.

While development is a sign of progress, it should not come at the expense of our community's quality of life. We urge Cedar Woods to reconsider the scale of this project and its location. There are alternative sites in Fairfield where new housing can integrate smoothly without jeopardizing our park and river ecosystem.

With a collaborative approach, we can find a solution that supports growth while preserving the essence of Fairfield.
