Stop Canada Goose from deceiving consumers: fur trim is not "humane"!

Animal Justice started this petition to John Pecman, Commissioner of Competition (The Competition Bureau)

Consumers don't want to buy products that contribute to animal suffering, and Canada Goose knows it. That's why the winter coat company is trying to prey on ethically conscious consumers by falsely claiming that its fur trim is from "humanely" trapped coyotes. But there's nothing "humane" about wearing fur.

False advertising is illegal in Canada, and that's why Animal Justice filed a consumer protection complaint with the Competition Bureau. On behalf of Canadian consumers, we're asking the authorities to step in and stop Canada Goose from trying to mislead consumers into buying cruel fur products.

Fur trapping involves practices that most consumers consider incredibly cruel. Trappers use cruel leg-hold and kill traps that cause significant pain, injury, and suffering to animals. Leg-hold traps are left unchecked for days at a time, or indefinitely in the case of kill traps. This leaves means that animals caught in traps can suffer from exposure, predation, hunger, and thirst. Trapped animals are typically strangled, smothered, or clubbed to death by trappers instead of being shot. This is to prevent their fur pelts from being "spoiled" and losing commercial value.

Ask the Competition Bureau to investigate and take appropriate legal action to stop Canada Goose from continuing to mislead consumers!
