The Issue

Harrison Central High School must not have cameras in its classrooms.

Studies have shown that constant surveillance can negatively impact student well-being and academic performance (American Psychological Association, 2010). Despite this, our Harrison Central High School administrative staff have chosen to place cameras directly in our learning environments.

Within a classroom, students should feel free to make mistakes and learn. However, the presence of cameras can disrupt this. It subconsciously induces a fear of taking risks due to the fear of potential scrutiny.

It is essential to emphasize that in numerous professional settings, workers are not subjected to constant surveillance. So, why should our school our sanctuary of learning bear resemblances to a surveillance state?

Our appeal is simple, yet crucial we request the removal of cameras from Harrison Central High School classrooms. It's time that the voices of students are heard and our spaces of learning are returned to us, free of unwarranted supervision. Please, support our petition to eliminate surveillance cameras from our high school classrooms. Sign this petition and stand together with us in our pursuit of a free, nurturing educational environment where innovation can flourish unwatched.
