It is done! After some talks with Kyra, BuzzFeed has officially confirmed that they will not be going through with using Chikn Nuggit in their AI project.
Now this doesn't mean BuzzFeed will scrap the project altogether. They will probably still continue their AI project without the use of Chikn, which I am fine with, they can go through with that as they please. This doesn't mean I'll ever support that project, but it's allowed to exist. The goal was ultimately to stop them from using an artist's creative work to feed their AI without the artist's approval, which I believe was a success.
That said, I will not take any credit for causing BuzzFeed to change their minds, because at the end of the day, a petition is just a bunch of words that people can sign to show that they agree with these words. Kyra has been in talks with BuzzFeed privately, and I believe due to this that the decision to not feed Chikn into the AI would've been made regardless of if I created this petition or not. I only made this petition as a platform for people to say that they don't agree with BuzzFeed's decisions and spread the word, and also because someone had to make it.
So in conclusion, this is a huge win for artists, and I am grateful that Kyra can now comfortably return to the series and continue working on it as she pleases. To everybody who signed this petition and voiced their concerns, thank you.
