Stop bullying in schools

The Issue

My name is Euan, and for my PYP Exhibition, I am looking into bullying and how it affects kids.

The definition of bullying is the act of harassing, intimidating, or abusing others over and over again. My goal is to completely stop bullying in schools in Singapore so that kids don’t feel scared to go to school, but they feel excited.

Many kids experience bullying in school and outside of school. There are lots of types of bullying such as cyberbullying. It means that you bully people using technology by making fun, embarrassing them, or sharing their personal information. There is also physical bullying when kids might be pushed, shoved, hit or kicked. Sometimes bullying can be teasing or making fun of someone to make them feel bad about themselves.

Kids are most affected by bullying because 1 in 4 primary learners have been bullied some time in their life. Kids are still growing so they don't always know how to respond. They also don't know how to control their anger. Bullied kids can become depressed and have low self confidence because of bullying.

How can we prevent bullying?

There are many ways we can stop bullying. To prevent being bullied we can learn to do things such as standing up to a bully and being strong, or asking an adult for help. We can teach kids what bullying is and how to be kind and inclusive to everyone and most importantly, agreeing as a community that we don't agree with or condone bullying.

That is why I would like you to sign my petition to show that as a learning community, we will not accept bullying in any form.

Every kid should feel safe and accepted in school, so that they can be free to learn and be the best version of themselves.

My other goal is to get as many signatures as possible so that I can share this with the Ministry of Education of Singapore so that they continue to work with schools to prevent bullying. I am also hoping to raise awareness in the International School community.

Thank you, and please sign my petition.
