On 25 March 2023, Rodeo 4 Life is coming to the Illawarra.

This event is a fundraiser for the RPA Transplant Institute at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. However, it is hypocritical that animals should unnecessarily suffer so that humans can better access medical treatment.

Rodeos deliberately cause harm to bulls and other animals. These spectator “sports” are terrifying for the animals and can lead to severe stress, injury, and even death.

Fundraising for medical care of humans should not come at the expense of animal welfare.

Traditional rodeos are banned in Britain, parts of Europe and the United States due to their cruel nature. Rodeos are also banned in the ACT, Australia.

Calf roping has been banned in SA and VIC.

We propose that Rodeo 4 Life reconsider their event and focus on music and other forms of entertainment, instead of animal cruelty.
