The Issue

**Petition to Stop Development on Undeveloped Land in Williamsburg**

**To: James City County Board of Supervisors**

**We, the undersigned residents of Williamsburg and surrounding areas, respectfully request that the James City County Board of Supervisors reconsider any plans for new development on undeveloped land within our community.**

**We believe that:**

1. **Preservation of Natural Habitat:** Building on undeveloped land leads to the destruction of trees and wildlife habitats, displacing animals and disrupting the local ecosystem. This can result in increased encounters between wildlife and humans, leading to potential safety risks.

2. **Availability of Existing Properties:** There is ample land for sale in Williamsburg, as well as numerous abandoned businesses that could be repurposed. We urge the Board to focus on revitalizing these existing properties instead of encroaching on untouched land.

3. **Traffic and Infrastructure Concerns:** Williamsburg's infrastructure is not designed to handle the increased traffic that comes with population growth. Our roads are already congested, and further development will exacerbate these issues, leading to more accidents and longer commute times.

4. **Community Character:** The unique character of Williamsburg is at risk if we continue to prioritize new developments over sustainable practices. We value our community's charm and wish to maintain its appeal for both residents and visitors.

**Therefore, we the undersigned call upon the James City County Board of Supervisors to:**

- Halt any plans for development on undeveloped land.
- Prioritize the repurposing of existing properties for new developments.
- Conduct thorough assessments of the environmental and social impacts of proposed projects.
